Common Milkweed

Asclepias syriaca

Perennial Wildflower

Milkweed is the only food of endangered Monarch Butterfly caterpillars. Showy pink blossoms turn to fluffy seed pods that are fun for kids to spread around. Grows well along ditches, in low-lying and swampy areas. Once established it will perennialize with periodic disturbance.
Note: Can be toxic to livestock and pets. Do not plant in pastures and research for your specific circumstances.

Planting Instructions: Plant Milkweed seeds in spring or fall 1/2" deep, spaced 1-3' apart. Seeds planted in fall will sprout in spring. These Milkweed seeds do not need to be cold stratified (exposed to cold) in order to germinate.

Seed Saving Instructions: Collect pods when they have split open and dried, revealing the inner fluff. Dry brown seeds and store in a cool, dark and dry place.

Approx 25 Milkweed seeds per packet
