Hopi Origin Rattle Gourd

Lagenaria siceraria

Days to Maturity: 120 (start indoors for a head start)

Let them climb a trellis or fence so they hang straight down for symmetrical fruits. Our fully mature rattle gourds were 5-7" long.

Planting Instructions: Plant Rattle Gourd seeds directly in the ground 1-3" deep after soil has warmed post-frost, in well-draining mounds. Gourds enjoy full sun. Or start indoors 3-4 weeks before last spring frost. Be sure to disrupt roots only minimally when transplanting.

Seed Saving Instructions: Allow fully mature rattle gourds to grow as large as possible and harvest before fall frost. Allow to cure in a warm place for a month before cutting open. Cut cleanly with a saw for use as a rattle, and shake seeds out. Dry seeds on a screen or cloth. Store in a cool, dark and dry place.

Approx 20 Hopi Origin Rattle Gourd seeds per packet
